The fifth woman of my series of five medals is Simone de Beauvoir (1908 – 1986). She was a writer, philosopher, feminist. As a philosopher, she wanted to live according to her philosophy. Equality for men and women was key in her work, in all aspects of life. The women who could live independent (mentally or financially) had more options of using all their talents. She supported young women financially to study, and emotionally to live the life they wanted to live. This means all aspects of living together or not, become a mother or not, it is all up to the woman herself to decide how she wants to live.
Backside of the Medal: The Symbol for women’s rights.
